What is volunteer screening? Screening is an ongoing process designed to
identify any person who may harm children or vulnerable adults.
Screening of volunteers creates and maintains a safe environment for
your clients, employees and volunteers, as well as, helps to ensure an
appropriate match between volunteer and task. Screening is legally
required under the principle of “Duty of Care”. Click

screening.

Are there any guidelines for the development of a volunteer
position? We recommend that you review a
document called A Matter of Design: Job Design Theory and application
to the voluntary sector (Volunteer Canada, 2001). This document is
an excellent resource to voluntary sector organizations in developing
volunteer position descriptions based the organizations’ structure and
resources, the changing expectations of volunteers and the challenges of
recruiting and retaining volunteers. Click

What is a virtual volunteer? A
virtual volunteer is a person whose volunteer work is completed, in
whole or in part, via the Internet (or other network) and a home or work
computer. It's also known as online volunteering, cyber service, online
mentoring, teletutoring and a number
of other names. Virtual volunteering allows organizations to expand the
benefits of their volunteer programs by allowing volunteers to
participate in new and innovative ways.
